We all fell onto ground panting and sweating. It was Tuesday and we were going canoeing.

When we got there we had some yummy food. It was great, all of the class sitting down on the warm sand eating at the beach. That day was scorching hot. The sun was gleaming the birds were singing.
The instructor stood up and put us in groups. Kurt, Jaiden, Hendrix, Reuben, Jackson and I were in a group. We were on the canoes first. We dragged the battered canoe out to shore. We headed out to see the seals. They were so playful. They looked like cats, but they had horrible breath!

Suddenly the strong tide started dragging us out to sea.

The instructor was working with the other team. We yelled so hard our voice went high pitch. But he didn’t hear us. We tried paddling hard, but there was no use as the tide was to strong. Two long hours passed.

“Where are we?” cried Reuben.

“I don’t know,” replied Kurt.

“Oh no!” screamed Jaiden, “Is that a shark?”

We all looked over were Jaiden was pointing. Our hearts raced as we saw the sleek, grey fin sliding through the calm motionless water.

“Where all going to die!” yelled Kurt.

Then it jumped out of the water.

“It’s a dolphin,” I said, with a sigh of relief.

The dolphin started pushing us out of the current with its big, grey nose! It was breathtaking.
We started to paddle towards the land off in the distance.

Hendrix yelled, “It’s Nelson!”

When we got there our arms were aching. We flopped our wet, wrinkly bodies onto the Nelson beach.

I fell asleep unable to keep my eyes open any longer.

When I woke up I found myself in my bed. I rang my friends to check if they were alright. They were fine.

To this day I thank the dolphins because they saved us in our hour of need.
